Srinagar: Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a serial innovator of informal sector hailing from remote Kreeri village of south Kashmirs Anantnag District has been selected for Innovation Scholars In-Residence Program at Rashtripati Bhawan. The National Innovation Foundation-India, Department of science & Technology had submitted the application on behalf of innovators.
Mushtaq received two national awards from two presidents of India for his innovations and bring laurels to Kashmir valley. He also received Indian Amazing Innovator Award from Times Now. Mushtaq has studied upto 9th standard and left studies due to family compulsion. Last year he signed his MOU with India Innovatix LTD Ahamadabad for pole cum tree climber with the support of National Innovation Foundation, Department of Science & Technology Govt. of India.
Mushtaq has developed several innovations viz Walnut Cracker, Pole cum Tree Climber,Walnut Peeler etc. Mushtaq received the letter for selection and joining of program at Rashtripati Bhawan. Mushtaq was selected for 3rd batch of In residence program and became the first among Kashmiri innovators to be at Rashtripati Bhawan New Delhi for two weeks from 12th March 2016.
The letter from President’s secretariat vide letter No. OSDP/32001/Innovators/2015 reads, “ ….I am happy to state that you have been selected by selection committee for the 3rd batch of “ Innovation Scholars In-Residence Programme”at Rashtripati Bhawan. The programme is scheduled for a period of two weeks starting from 12th March,2016….”
While talking to Mushtaq Ahmad expressed his happiness over the selection, “ I am very thankful to GIAN Cell JK and NIF for supporting me in the journey of innovation,I got extempore help and support from NIF and GIAN cell to be a successful innovator”.
Chairman GIAN Cell-JK Kashmir University Prof. G.M Bhat said, “ The innovative thinking opens up new vistas of life to explore, this is a great leap by Kashmiri innovator and I am proud that GIAN Cell-JK has played a great role to promote and incubate and support innovator to develop his ideas and innovations ”. I welcome all the people having innovative thinking to share their ideas with us so that we can help them to further their talent and give their ideas a concrete shape”, Prof Bhat added.
The initiative for hosting the Scholars in Residence Program at Rashtripati Bhawan has been taken to encourage the creativity and innovative potential of the people at grassroots level. The aim of the programme is to promote the spirit of innovation and give further impetus to the grassroots innovation activities.
The objectives of the program is to provide an environment to grassroots innovators in Rashtrapati Bhavan to work on a project in hand and take their innovative ideas forward, providing linkages with technical institutions to the selected innovators to strengthen their capacity to innovate and to provide mentoring and support so that the innovations can be used for the progress and welfare of the society.
