JAMMU: Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Surinder Choudhary has asked Haryana Government to immediately grant OBC status to the Jats. He also strongly condemned killing of people who were agitating for OBC status.
In a statement issued here today, Surinder Choudhary said that Jat community all over the country deserved to be given OBC status due to socio-economic condition of this community. He argued that Jats are socially and economically backward so they deserve OBC status for the upliftment.
Strongly killing of agitators in Haryana, Mr Choudhary asked the authorities to observe maximum restrain while dealing with the prevailing situation in the State. He said that people are agitating for their genuine demands and government should deal the ongoing stir with human approach. He said that Jats are the nationalist community whose role in freedom struggle cannot be ignored. He said that Jats are in the forefront of defending national integration and unity of the country.
Demanding OBC status for Jats of J&K, Mr Choudhary said that Jats of this State also deserve the same status because they are backward in all spheres of life.
