ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP): PPP Member National Assembly Farzana Raja Wednesday said a caucus would be made to raise the Kashmir issue internationally with an aim to expedite efforts to resolve the lingering dispute.
“Our government has taken practical measures to resolve Kashmir dispute and we have never stepped back from our mission”, she said in an interview with PTV.
In his first speech before parliament President Asif Ali Zardari would announce the policy regarding solution of Kashmir dispute, she informed.
She pointed out the need to develop consensus among other countries through United Nations platform to support the Pakistan’s viewpoint on Kashmir issue.
“Our main emphasis was to involve Kashmiris in dialogue process considering their importance as a third party,” she added.
She was of the view that issues cannot be resolved by suppressing the voice of Kashmiris.
“We have been trying to sort out the solution of Kashmir issue through dialogue with international community and United Nations.”
“We condemned the killing of people who are struggling for the cause of independence through a joint resolution in National Assembly,” she added.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned these incidents showing commitment to resolve this issue.
Farzana Raja paid rich tributes to the martyred leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
While showing solidarity with the people of the occupied territory, Farzana Raja paid homage to the Kashmiris for rendering sacrifices for their right to self determination.
During the period of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Kashmir issue was highlighted at all forums, she added.
Asif Ali Zardari in his first press conference emphasised on resolving Kashmir issue for peace and economic stability in South Asia.
The pressure of international community can force India to stop the violence, withdraw its security forces and move towards a solution, she added.
Draconian laws made to intimidate Kashmiris must be abolished and increasing human rights violations should be stopped, she added.
She said the resources used on conflicts should be diverted for welfare of people in both the countries.
India should adopt the policy of reconciliation for stability in South Asia, she added.
