Rifle snatcher youth arrested by police from Kulgam

Kulgam: The suspected youth who had sprayed chili powder on a cop in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district was arrested in Wanpouh area on Saturday.

    A top police official while identifying the arrested youth as Altaf Ahmed Sheikh son of Muhammad Akbar a resident of Astan Mohalla Qaimou told CNS that police managed to arrest him in Wanpou area. “Another accomplice is still at large and we are on job to trace him. During questioning the arrested youth has claimed that his associate has joined the militant ranks,” he said.

    Pertinently, a rifle snatching bid was foiled in Kulgam district when unidentified persons tried to snatch a rifle of a Jammu and Kashmir Bank guard. The youth had sprayed chili powder at the face of Head Constable Shafiq Ahmad outside the JKB branch at Qaimoh but had failed to snatch his rifle. (CNS)
