Pugwash Kashmir conference a failure, APHC
ISLAMABAD – The prominent Kashmiri leader and convener of the APHC (All Parties Hurriyet Conference) chapter of Pakistan/AJK Syed Yusuf Nasim has described the Pugwash Kashmir Conference which opened here on Sunday morning for three days as complete failure and an eye wash of juvenile effort on the worlds most serious dispute – Jammu and Kashmir.
Asked why does he terms the conference a failure he explained that not a single leader from the ongoing Kashmir movement has been invited to take part and tender Kashmiris views to the host organization. “It has invited only pro-Indian group of people and not a single one from the ongoing Kashmir movement lot of leaders. It was necessary to see who represents whom, and this was the job of Pugwash. But in the present format the three days conference seems Indian promotion act of drama in the name of Kashmir dispute, Nasim said irritatingly.
The global NGO on disputes settling, Pugwash had called a Kashmir conference running from Sept 15 to 17, 2013, to discuss a Kashmir-tagged agenda inviting delegates from Pakistan, Indian, AJK and HHK (Indian held Kashmir). Syed Yusuf Nasim represents the APHC in Pakistan/AJK comprising 27 Kashmiri political parties.
He regretted that Hindustan has not given travel documents to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of APHC, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, senior leader of Kashmir, Sajjad Ghani Lone and others. All current invitees from HHK are pro-Indian and their views cannot be considered those of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, angered Nasim said. Had they secured the participation of the Kashmiri leadership like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Kashmiri leaders could have given the conference a rich input to facilitate the process of settling Kashmir knot. But this has not been done, it betrays the intentions of the Organization, he viewed.
