Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani has thanked people of Handwara Town for observing complete shutdown against the massacre of 1990 and appealed for complete strike on 26th and 27th January in state and Kupwara Town respectively. He said unless all the cases pertaining to innocent killings are investigated by a neutral Investigating Organisation, human rights violations coupled with killings will continue in Jammu and Kashmir.
Appealing non government Human Rights Organisations to ‘Document’ all the cases of and disappeared and killed people by the Indian forces, he said that these organisations play a vital role in preserving the history. He said that we are proud of what we have done to keep the struggle alive. Praying for the martyrs of Handwara and Kupwara, Geelani termed them as National Heroes of Kashmir and expressed complete solidarity with the aggrieved families.
He said that sacrifices of the martyrs would never be compromised and struggle will continue till freedom. In a statement to Valley Media Service, appealing for the complete boycott of the 2104 elections, he said that people of Kupwara have offered most sacrifices and there is hardly any family who has not lost a member.
He said that those who value the sacrifices given by martyrs, doesn’t vote and there is no logic in protesting against killings and simultaneously go for voting. He blamed politicians of playing with the freedom movement of Kashmir by begging for votes on the name of water and electricity. After forming government, these politicians do nothing for the cause except for shielding forces and India presents bad picture of Jammu and Kashmir by saying that the state has accessed with her.
He said that there are clear instructions for voting in Islam. It has to be offered to the deserving, and so far as politicians are concerned, their hands are soaked with the blood of innocent people of Kashmir and hence nobody should vote for them.
Geelani appealed for complete boycott of the 26th January celebrations and added that India has deprived people of Jammu and Kashmir of their basic rights, thus participating in its Independence Day celebrations has no meaning at all. (VMS)
