Pakistan National Assembly Kashmir Committee Visits KCEU

Brussels: Kashmir Centre.EU today hosted a delegation from the Pakistan Parliamentary Kashmir Committee during headed by Moulana Fazl ur Rehman, Chairman of the Kashmir Committee and member of the Pakistan National Assembly, during their European visit.

While addressing the gathering Moulana Fazl ur Rehman said that the Pakistan Parliamentary Kashmir Committee follows the work of KCEU closely and congratulated them on their ability to keep the Kashmir issue on the European radar saying that KCEU was recognised as the only representative of the Kashmiri point of view within the European institutions and the local diaspora. He noted that the path to peace in Afghanistan, and all of South Asia, runs through Kashmir. Only with meaningful progress on Kashmir can other issues be resolved successfully.

H.E. Jilal Abbas Jillani, ambassador of Pakistan to the European Union, said that the government of Pakistan had always supported the people of Kashmir in achieving their right to self-determination and continue to do so at the political and diplomatic level.

Dr. Attiya Anyatullah, also a member of the Pakistan National Assembly declared that the human rights issue is the serious angle of the Kashmiri movement and needs to be highlighted further.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, also a member of the Pakistan National Assembly, said that the Kashmir Committee works on the Kashmir issue within Pakistan and outside. He further stated that during the current visit they had highlighted the Kashmir ussue with the relevant institutions in Berlin, Warsaw and here in Brussels.

Closing proceedings A. Majid Tramboo, Chairman Kashmir Centre.EU, emphasised that KCEU is focussed both on political as well as human rights issues of the Kashmiri people in Indian Held Kashmir. He referred to the upcoming Global Discourse on Kashmir which is to be held in the European Parliament as one of the means of keeping the Kashmir issue alive within the European Union. He thanked the committee for their visit to KCEU.
