Indian Agency releases two Pakistani Uri attack suspects

SRINAGAR : Two Pakistani residens Faisal Hussain Awan and Ahsan Khursheed, the suspects who were arrested by the India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the attack at Uri Brigade Headquarters on 18th September 2016, have been released today.

The two suspects were handed over to the Indian Army 16 Corps Headquarters for sending them back to Pakistani authorities.

Investigation carried out by the NIA revealed that the two suspects had crossed over to the Indian side after altercation with their parents due to pressure of studies.

Evidence collected in the form of statements, technical analysis of their mobile phones, seized GPS devices and other circumstantial evidence collected by NIA did not reveal any linkage of the suspects with the attackers at Uri. Further investigation is continuing in the case. (PTK)
