AMK to organise international literary festival
Srinagar: In an effort to bring Kashmir on the international literary scene, Adbee Markaz
Kamraz (AMK) plans to organize first ever international level Kashmir Literary Festival (KLF) in Srinagar this year.
AMK had long been
deliberating to organise a mega literary event in Kashmir, and the plan has been set in motion to hold it this year itself. This was also discussed
in a recent meeting of executive of AMK in Sopore. “It will be on the lines of Jaipur Literary Festival and Karachi Literary Festival held in
recent past,” informed Dr Shujaat Bukhari, General Secretary AMK and in-charge of the KLF. This will be a first of its kind literary carnival in
Kashmir, in which authors around the world will be invited to share their works with the local authors, he said.
AMK is in process of
negotiations with some independent bodies relevant to festivals to help them to make it a grand success.
In this biggest ever literary
festival in Kashmir's cultural and literary history, students, teachers and scholars from universities and educational institutions will be
involved.
This will be a platform not only for exposing local authors to international audience to showcase their works but also an
opportunity to highlight the sufferings of people during past 21 years.
The KLF is yet another effort of the AMK, the oldest and largest
literary federation of literary and cultural bodies of J&K, to play its part in the renaissance of cultural and literary legacy of the State. KLF will
not only be a milestone in this direction, but also will pave way for further accelerating the revival of the literature, art and culture in J&K.
