Many Indians are kindhearted: Geelani
‘We should reach out to them’
Srinagar, Feb 16: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed
Ali Geelani has said there is no dearth of kind hearted people in India and there were a need to “reach out” to them and apprise them
about the “real” situation in Kashmir.Geelani, who is camping in Delhi for past more than two months, while referring to his meetings with
several people said the electronic and print media in India was misleading the people of India.“There is no dearth of people having a kind
hearted people in India.
We are trying to reach out to them and apprise them about the history of Kashmir, the problems faced by Kashmiris
and counter the propaganda campaign of the Indian media,” he said.
“Dr Jain, owner of a private TV channel, and his family
couldn’t hold back their tears when Geelani sahib told them about the real situation in Kashmir and the atrocities being committed by Indian
armed forces. They admitted their ignorance about this aspect of Kashmir ,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman said.
Geelani said Indian media, by
trying to brush the “genuine struggle of Kashmiris in communal color, was giving proof of its journalistic dishonesty.”
Reiterating
that he was not against dialogue , Hurriyat (G) chairman said unless India gives up the integral part claim on Kashmir and accepts the amalgam’s
five point formula, they will not enter in any kind of bilateral dialogue with India.
The ailing leader clarified that bilateral talks whether
announced or on Track-II diplomacy has never proved fruitful nor are there any hopes of its success in future. “Unless India doesn’t show
flexibility in its attitude and accepts ground realities in Kashmir, no change is expected in the prevailing situation,” he
said.
Referring to interlocutors report, Geelani said, “India is showing no seriousness on Kashmir.
Appointing interlocutors was
nothing but misleading international community and as such we distanced ourselves from the process”.
Referring to the present situation
in Pakistan, he said, “The resolution of Kashmir was as important for Pakistan as it is for people of Kashmir.
Pakistan under no
circumstances can ignore Kashmir and this country has to continue its support for right to self determination”.
He said Pakistan’s
situation was very much concerning and policy of one-sided surrender by former president Gen Parvaiz Musharraf is the only reason for present problems
facing the country.
Geelani appealed leadership of Pakistan to resolve all its internal issues including Balochistan through mutual
understanding and refrain from using force against its own people.
