Tramboo urges EU to play role in Kashmir dispute settlement
BRUSSELS, Feb 16 (INP): The Chairman of Kashmir Centre Brussels, Barrister Abdul
Majeed Tramboo has urged the European Union to play its constructive role for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute as well as implementation of its
resolutions on the dispute.
Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo in a statement said that permanent peace in South Asia was not possible without the
resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations.
He welcomed the recommendation of the UN woman
observer, Mrs. Margaret Margaret Sekaggya, regarding repeal of the draconian laws, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA)
in occupied Kashmir during her special visit of the territory. He said that Margaret Seka in her report had highlighted the murder of human rights
activist and advocate, Jaleel Andrabi and Shopian rape and double murder of women by Indian troops.
The Chairman of Kashmir Centre Brussels
also hailed the statement of US Commander, Admiral Richard that improvement in Pak-India relations without settling the dispute over Kashmir was
impossible.
Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo also demanded of the world community and international human rights organisations to take notice of
the continued rights abuses in the occupied territory by the Indian government and its occupation forces.
Similar views were expressed by the
leader of Labour Party group in the British Parliament, Mr. Willmott, who addressing a seminar on Kashmir in Derby said that the situation in South
Asia could not improve unless serious steps were taken for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
