US embassy looks for J-K 'political specialist' American officers will place substantial reliance on his/her professional judgement and acumen in
advising them on a variety of important and sensitive matters, the embassy website says
Srinagar: In a significant move, the US embassy in
New Delhi is scouting for a political specialist on Jammu & Kashmir. "The US embassy is seeking an individual for the position of political
specialist in the political section," an advertisement on the embassy's website stated.
The last date for application was February 2,
2012.The political specialist would be responsible for the "internal unit's Kashmir account and will be a recognised expert on this portfolio, and
American officers will place substantial reliance on his/her professional judgement and acumen in advising them on a variety of important and
sensitive matters".
It added: "The officer will be responsible for canvassing Indian opinion (in Delhi as well as in J&K) on the important
events affecting his portfolio, analysing the information obtained and summarising it to the American officer."On whether it was the first time the
embassy had come up with the post, an embassy official declined comment.
