US, Moscow run conference race

ISLAMABAD: “Twenty Years of Independence in South Caucasus – Achievements and
Challenges” will be key topic in an international conference being held on September 15, 2011, in Washington under auspices of US Center for
Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
The conference, international reports say, will be participated by Deputy Assistant Secretary of
State for Europe and Eurasia Eric Rubin, key expert of the Heritage Foundation for Russian and Eurasian Studies and International Energy Policy,
Heritage Foundation expert Ariel Cohen, Director Central Asia-Caucasus Institute (CACI) at Johns Hopkins University USA, CACI Associate Research
Professor Svante Cornell, CSIS top reps Janusz Bugajski, Andy Kuchins, Mamuka Tsereteli, Heydar Mirza, who represents the Council for International
Relations of Azerbaijan and other experts.
In Moscow on the other hand on 20th Anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
Russia will play host to a CIS summit at the end of running year.
“I’ll be glad to see all CIS leaders in Moscow at an informal
summit devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth at the end of the current year. Official invitations will be sent through diplomatic
channels in the near future,” said reportedly Russian President Dimitry Medvedev in September 3, 2011, Dushunbe summit where President of
Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Russian President Medvedev, Tajikistan President Imomali Rahman and Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai had a common forum
interaction.
Also ‘at September 3 summit, CIS leaders discussed further development of Commonwealth states as well as urgent
international issues’, reports add.
