PDP-BJP government pushes state back to 1990’s: Azad
SRINAGAR: A delegation of Congress party led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in disputed Jammu and Kashmir State capital Srinagar on Saturday.
The delegation, according to former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad is likely to meet over 40 delegations during their visit.
Singh is heading the Congress policy group that includes P Chidambaram,
Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni and Karan Singh. During its two-day visit to Kashmir, a Congress spokesman said the group would meet a number of delegations, opposition parties, 2014 flood victims and ‘Panchayat Raj Forum’.
The group has held three meetings in New Delhi and Jammu to “look into ways for finding a peaceful solution to the current impasse” in the state.
Tight Security arrangements were made in entire as Singh arrives here, heading the party’s policy planning group to interact with the leaders of like-minded political parties and cross sections of the local society in order to find ways and means to bring in permanent peace to the state to create a healthy atmosphere for which this paradise was known before.
While talking to media ,Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi said that the “PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir and the NDA-led Centre had taken the state back to 1990s when the conflict was at its worst, today it seems more worst than 1990 as everyday people are get cutting like peas and nuts which is big alarming.
He further added the since the BJP-PDP coalition govt came to power in J&K, the situation has gone to worse, back to 1990s period. “But during our reign the situation was good and stable when there was Congress-NC coalition government in state and UPA in Delhi”, he said.
He said that the Congress delegation wishes to visit all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir to check the progress and conditions of regions apart from the burning issues faced by general public, also to study the ground situation during BJP and PDP rule.
He said Congress party will defend Articles like 35A and 370 because they form the base of the state and will not let them to abrogate by any means. (PTK)
