MIRPUR (PAK): May 29: Eminent jurist and ex-Chief Justice of Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) High Court, Justice (Retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick, has urged upon the United Nations Secretary General Baan

Ki Moon not to wait for the results of bilateral dialogue between India and Pakistan “as in view of the past record, India is perusing the policy to perpetuate status quo in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan State of Jammu and Kashmir”.

The seasoned Kashmiri politician and retired judge gave this urgent call while addressing the concluding session of National Conference on the topic of ‘Islamic Law, International Community and the Global Peace”, here last night.

The conference was arranged here under the auspices of Islamic Ideological Council of Azad Jammu and Kashmir – which is headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of AJK Justice Muhammad Azam Khan.

Mallick, who is also president Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League, said that Islam guaranteed universal human rights and universal peace.

In order to bring harmony, tranquility, justice and peace in the world, it was enjoined upon the comity of nations to adhere to tenets and injunctions postulated by Islam, he stated.

“A large number of persons were being found missing and imprisoned in jails without trial in the turbulent Indian occupied valley,” he pointed and emphasized that since India invoked the jurisdiction of the United Nations Security Council by seeking truce and ceasefire with a surety to a plebiscite in the state to enable the people of Jammu & Kashmir to decide their future by self determination.Other speakers while addressing the concluding session of the conference called for early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue to pave the way for early grant of right to self determination under the spirit of the international norms – particularly in line with the U.N resolution for the sake of ever lasting peace across the globe in general and South Asia in particular. The speakers emphasized the need of infusing complete unity, harmony among the Muslim Ummah in line with the teachings of Islam to combat the global challenges being faced by the Islamic world.
