SRINAGAR: The alleged highhandedness of security forces in Pulwama college triggers protests, pitched battle across major towns of Kashmir valley between students and security forces.

In Srinagar, Students of SP College and women’s colleges took to streets to protests the government action against the students in Pulwama which left dozens injured.

The protesting students clashes with the deployed police personnel’s who fired tear gas resulted in injuries to dozens of students.

The protesting students were apparently angered by a police raid on a college in southern Pulwama district on Saturday in which at least 60 students were injured.

The female students hit the MA road, triggering clashes with police while the women police tried to keep the protesting female students at bay.

Some female students fainted during the police action, however, they are stable.

Worth to mention that the clashes occurred at eight places in valley, turning the streets outside colleges into battlefields, witnesses.

The protesting students of colleges were shouting slogans in solidarity with the students of Pulwama.

Meanwhile Students from Kashmir University and Central University of Kashmir in Srinagar staged peaceful protests.

In north Kashmir, students poured out of the Sopore Degree College in large numbers and shouted slogans against the assault on students.

However in south Kashmir Shopian seven students were injured during clashes outside Degree College Shopian. Four students were shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment. “An injured student has been shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. He had a pellet injury in his eye,” health official told Press Trust of Kashmir.

However in Kulgam Dozens of students were injured, three of them grievously, during clashes at Degree College Kulgam. The students were holding protests against the forces’ action on students at Degree College Pulwama. Many girl students have fainted during the clashes, reports said.

Students of Government Degree College Ganderbal also staged protests inside the college premises. Some students resorted to stone pelting, leading to clashes with security forces.

Meanwhile National Conference working president Omar Abdullah strongly endorsed his father’s demand of imposing Governor’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that they can’t go to their homes, can’t meet their families. This Government can’t hold elections. Elections to the parliamentary seat (Anantnag), which Mehbooba Mufti had left, can’t be held. What more evidence is needed about deteriorated law and order situation.

However All Jammu and Kashmir students union along with students from nook and corner colleges on Monday held a Massive protest demonstrations against incident which happened in GDC Pulwama alleging that  student were attacked with teargas shells to scatter them by holding peaceful protest. It has now become a war in between” Pens vs pellets ” and “Books vs bullets”.

There were student protests reported from Daru Budgam, Barmulla, Kulgam also. It was reportedly a hectic day for the security forces to deal with the protesting students.

Pertinently protest call was given by the All Jammu Kashmir Students Union (AJKSU).  AJKSU president in a statement said that it has now become a war in between” Pens vs pellets “and “Books vs bullets”. He said that Govt has turned spring bloom into red and they have been failed in every aspect. “Using pellets and teargas shells against students in colleges is sheer brutality on part of the largest democracy and is highly deplorable”, he said.

 

Shelling, brutalities on Students, people gift from Mehbooba Mufti: G.A. Mir

 Stating the Mehbooba Mufti Govt is brutalizing people under the garb of maintain law and Oder, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) G.A. Mir today strongly condemned the use of force by State Police on Students of various colleges leading to the massive clashes, He termed the raining of shells as a gift of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to people of Kashmir, saying that Govt has crossed all limits of brutalities.

He said this is the height of brutalities & highhandedness on the part of   ruling dispensation led by Mehbooba Mufti, which is hell bent upon to crush the genuine voice of people to satisfy it’s master RSS.

Stating that Chief Minister is directly responsible for these incidents, Mir said It would have been far better, if the Chief Minister who is also Home Minister directed Forces not to enter Education Institutions which is the cause behind rising among anger the students. This is not only heinous, but a shameful act, he added.

Stating that Chief Minister has lost control over the Administration, G.A. Mir said this is unfortunate that Mehbooba Mufti is not even in a position to say anything on harassment of innocent people, leading to the alienation of the common masses in the entire Kashmir Valley.

Describing the protest by Students as genuine, Mir said that interference in Educational Institutions and harassment of students is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Seeking stern action against those responsible for harassment of Students, Congress President said that Govt should stop provoking people, by losing reign of terror under the garb of maintain law and order, he said.  (PTK)
