SRINAGAR : A complete was observed today on the call of joint Hurriyat leadership against the growing incidents of braid chopping incidents in Kashmir valley.
In Srinagar, shops and educational institutes are closed while traffic is mostly off the roads. However, a very thin movement of traffic was witnessed in parts of uptown Srinagar.
Meanwhile Government imposed restrictions in seven police station areas of Srinagar to prevent protests. According to district admin restrictions were imposed in the areas of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud.
Similar reports of complete shutdown were received from other district headquarters. In South Kashmir, reports said that a complete shutdown was witnessed. All Shops, business establishments and private offices were closed while government offices witnessed a thin attendance. Traffic was also affected. Major towns and districts of North Kashmir witnessed similar scene.
Pertinently The Joint Resistance Leadership led by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have called for a shutdown today against the “unabated braid-chopping incidents” in the Valley, calling them as an attack on the “dignity of women.(PTK)
Braid chopping continues, another incident occurred in Ganderbal
SRINAGAR : A first braid hair cutting incident reported from Rabitar in Ganderbal district after the hair of a 8th Standard Girl was chopped at her home.
In Rabitar area of Ganderbal locals told PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR that the braid of a teenage girl was chopped this evening later locals assembled at Rabitar Chowk Started hue and cry.
Soon after the incident Police rushed to the spot and started preliminary investigation into the matter which revealed that the victim is a teenage girl adding that doctors at PHC Wakura Examined her during further investigation it was found that the victim girl is suffering from psychiatric ailment and has been undergoing medical treatment.
Mean while another incident reported from Narayanbagh 4 Km Away from Rabitar, this time orphan girl became victim of braid chopping her sister in a video clip told she was at uncle’s residence when she entered home her braid was chopped down.
As the news about the braid Chopping spread in residents started protest minor clash outside hospital. A police official told PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR said “we have started investigating in the incident we are appealing to General public to cooperate with us in the investigation.” (PTK)
Cases registered against miscreants for spreading rumors
Srinagar : Police has taken cognizance of rumours being spread out by some miscreants through social media, like facebook and whatsapp about the capture of braid choppers at Nishat.
SHO Nishat told PTK that FIR has been lodged against the miscreants and investigation started to identify the persons involved in fabricating the news.
He said that the truth about the photographer circulated is that on the evening of 6th of October two local residents captured two persons at Nishat accusing them of being braid choppers.
Police said that they were beaten and thrashed severely by the residents. However, as the police got to informaion about the incident, a police team promptly rushed to the spot and took custody of the ‘captured persons’.
They were however let off after proper investigation and treatment as they had received injuries during thrashing by the people. One of them Sameer Ahmad Khan s/o Noor Mohammad Khan r/o Ahmad Nagar runs a boutique at Gojwara Srinagar under the banner of “Silayee Ghar”.
He, along with his friend Tahir Ahmad Beigh s/o Ghulam Qadir Beigh r/o Gujwara had gone to collect some material from one of his customers—Seeba Shah w/of Masarat Shah r/o Chopan Mohalla Ishbar (Nishat). Seeba is sister in law of Sameer’s brother. AS the duo reached near Seeba’s house, some two or three persons raised alarm doubting them as “braid choppers”. Meanwhile several other residents gathered and started beating them mercilessly.
Meanwhile SHO feather said that Police has taken cognizance of these rumours, and case FIR no 54 have been registered in police station Nishat. (PTK)
