SRINAGAR : Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq And Mohammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement on Sunday said that police authorities are subjecting civilians to worst treatment and their fundamental rights are being disregarded and trampled.
Criticizing authorities for their rude and heartless approach against civilians, the joint leadership said that police authorities are unnecessarily harassing and intimidating civilians on one pretext or the other.
Ridiculing the statement of IG police wherein he has said that it was a mock drill, resistance leadership denounced the crackdown on civilians in Lal Chowk of Srinagar area, saying “this is sheer lawlessness and illustrates the egoistic and autocratic behavior of state authorities”.
It is hilarious to say that it was just a “patrolling exercise and a leg work’’ as police personnel were feeling lazy, said leadership.
Keeping large population as hostage for hours is sheer violation of human rights said they and added that unnecessary search operation has become routine and order of the day for forces and police personnel, said leadership.
People are subjected to humiliation and forces, police and other agencies feel free and unaccountable for their misdeeds, said leaders & while terming police action as bullying against civilians, leadership added that such uncivilized and heartless tactics are nowhere adopted in civilized societies.
Terming forces and police action as state terrorism, the leadership said that uncalled search operations are unjustified and illogical.
Criticizing the statement of IG police, the leadership said that the authorities have no regard for common civilians and on mere pretext and to wave off the laziness of their sleuths, organized their services just to humiliate civilians.
Resistance leadership said that an officer of status of DG do admit that it was ‘’leg drill ‘’for his men and affirms and illustrates how people are subjected to extreme humiliations on lame excuse.
Terming the varying statements of authorities, a brazen lie, the leadership said that different versions about the cordon & search operations in Lal Chowk are quite humiliating and while referring to statement of CRPF spokesman, said that it is strange that on one hand the police chief says that it was a drill while as the CRPF spokesman said, that they had inputs about the presence of militants in area.
It testifies our claim that lawlessness rules the roost and state is virtually reeling under martial law, said leadership in their statement.
The resistance leaders in their appeal to organizations for human rights urged to take cognizance of reports of “harassment and atrocities are inflicted by forces against civilian population” in nook and corner of the state.
NIA raids on Hurriyat to intimidate me, alleges APHC
Strongly criticizing NIA for summoning Altaf Ahmad Shah (secretary public relation) to Delhi for interrogation, Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday called it sheer vengeance. Altaf Ahmad and other party activists are unnecessarily being harassed by NIA sleuths, said Geelani.
It is just a tool to dent leadership so that they surrender and stop voicing the sentiments of their nation, added Geelani.
Altaf Shah, since past 35 years is active in politics and his all activities are transparent and open, said Geelani and added that however the policy makers in Delhi are intimidating political workers on one pretext or the other.
It is illogical and unjustified, said Geelani and added that NIA is being used as a war weapon against political workers.
Since year 2002, fabricated cases are being filed against me, colleagues and my close relatives, said Syed Ali Geelani and added however all these senseless efforts proved useless and futile.
Referring to NIA raids, Syed Ali Geelani said that all these state sponsored tactics and coercive measures won’t deter us from pursuing our mission, nor these coercions, suppressive and aggressive will deter us from pursuing our mission.
He asked Indian authorities to shun this uncivilized and egoistic approach. Implicating political workers in fabricated cases won’t help you nor we will surrender, said Geelani and suggested Indian authorities to adopt a realistic approach and accept hard realities about Kashmir issue. (PTK)
