Inqilabi expresses solidarity with Khan Sopori

Appeals youth to make programs of Geelani successful

Srinagar: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi has expressed his complete solidarity with the senior resistance leader Khan Sopori.

In a statement issued to press here, Inqilabi condemned the police action of sealing ailing Sopori’s house and evicting him and his family.

“Through this action it looks Indian government doesn’t want peaceful resistance movement here,” he said.

Sopori, who has spent more than 17 years in jails, alleged being punished for being close to Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani.

“I appeal youth to make programs of Geelani Sahab successful aimed at breaking the shackles of slavery,” Inqilabi said.

MeA patron said on 11 Dec. 2003 he presented Geelani with “Asaai Sofi” award. “He (Geelani) has rightly honoured it. He is the symbol of cross sect unity in Kashmir.”

He asked Pakistan not to pick favourites among Kashmiri leaders. “This should be left to resistance leaders; they will decide who will lead.”

Inqilabi urged people to remain firm against the “anti-movement elements”.

“Sacrifices are our investment. Martyr’s graveyards are control room of this movement. We won’t allow anybody to make sellout of them,” the press statement reads.

He exuded confidence that Kashmiris are not alone in their struggle. “Brothers in our base camp (Azad Kashmir) are not sitting silent. Pakistan, China, OIC support our right of self-determination.”

He claimed “pragmatists” in Russia, America and in European countries empathize with Kashmiris.

“In this situation people should keep those persons at bay who try to create suspicion and disarray in the movement,” he said.

MeA patron appealed youth to protect the cultural and religious places. “They should also consider it their duty to protect resistance leaders. Nation won’t forgive miscreants who attacked pro-freedom leaders at Khanyar on June 25.”

He said all pro-freedom groups espouse the same cause. “In that way I am not only patron of MeA but patron and guardian of all resistance groups.”
