Indian Army officer killed in mysterious fire in Budgam

Srinagar: An Indian Army officer was killed after hit by a mysterious fire last night in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Official sources told news agency GNS that  an army officer (JCO) Raj Kumar  part of patrolling party suddenly received a bullet at Drang village in Beerwah.
In the incident, Kumar of 53 RR received a serious injuries and has been shifted to near by army hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

A police officer concerned told GNS that they have launched investigations to ascertain the cause of fire incident.

Meanwhile, army claimed that the officer lost his life in a militant attack.
“Army JCO was killed in a brief encounter with militants at Beerwa Budgam in central Kashmir while laying a cordon”, an army officer said. (GNS)

CRPF man’s rifle goes missing in Srinagar
Srinagar: A service rifle of an on-duty paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man has gone missing at Alochi Bagh area of Srinagar today.
Police sources told news agency GNS that CRPF man identified as Imran of 25 Battalion told police that he found his Insas rifle, some rounds and magazine today while on duty at Bul Bul Bagh Bund in Alochi Bagh.
“The CRPF man was posted at Bul Bul Bagh bund for law and order duty in wake of strike call today. He told police that he had gone to have lunch and after returning to his duty place, he found his service rifle missing,” the sources said, adding that the paramilitary soldier is being questioned in this regard.
Sources said that they are looking into the claims of the CRPF man and the matter is being investigated from various angles as recently two incidents of weapon snatchings occurred in downtown Srinagar. The area also houses the residence of a top police officer.(GNS)
