Referring to history, Geelani said that after the independence of India from British rule in 1947 more than five lakh innocent Muslims were brutally killed.
Syed Ali Geelani while referring to forces officers involved in these killings, said that those involved in these heinous crimes are roaming free and were never prosecuted for their crimes or brought to book, instead were honoured and elevated to higher status. Geelani said it is because of this unaccountability that people are worst sufferers and are facing these heart-breaking events.
Forces feel free and can kill anybody without any fear of accountability, said Geelani and while ridiculing international community for their apathetic approach and indifference towards people of Jammu and Kashmir, said that they have turned their blind eye to all these gruesome happenings.
Syed Ali Geelani in his appeal to United Nations said, that unless the forces atrocities are checked and probe initiated against killers and perpetrators, human rights violations will go unchecked. He sought help and asked International community to come to the rescue and help to stop genocide and initiate action against preparators of these massacres likewise as was initiated against Serb militia in Bosnia Herzegovina.
