ISLAMABAD: The Azad Jammu & Kashmir capital city Muzaffarabad will have its first Christian church to preach Christianity as all religions enjoy full freedom under the AJK Interim Constitution Act 1974.
The AJK Premier Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan on Monday handed over the church land ownership papers to the leaders of the local Christian community Mr Elder Masih in a ceremony held in PM House Muzaffarabad. The community has also been allotted a separate piece of land for graves ground for burial of dead bodies.
It is for the first in AJK history that a communal justice has been done. The Christian community has widely hailed it as ‘generous accommodation’. The community patients already have been given cost free medical treatment in government hospitals.
With the setting up of the church the Christian tourists to AJK, mostly Europeans, will have the facility to offer their Sunday prayers in Muzaffarabad.
