Top police brass asks for ground report

Srinagar, Nov 22: Police claims of declaring north Kashmir’s Baramulla town as a “militant-free district” have fallen flat and the embarrassed police top brass has asked for immediate ground report to look into the motive and identify attackers behind the attack, which claimed life of a policeman in the town’s main chowk on Tuesday.

AS NIGHT fell on 30 July 1988, two men left their homes to plant bombs with timer devices at three places in Srinagar — Akhara Building, Central Telegraph Office (CTO) and Srinagar Club. Two bombs went off, one at the CTO later that night and another at the club in the wee hours of 31 July.
