Srinagar,30 Jan: An owl of uncommon beauty was spotted in the Mominabad area of northern outline of Srinagar city in Jammu and Kashmir by some young guys who latter got hold of him and after having a photo session released it back in free skies.

According to some local guys namely Ubaid Khan, Faheem Malik and Sadeeq, they spotted the beautiful bird on the attic of their house while the were enjoying the view of recent snowfall in the Mominabad area near Batmaloo bye pass Srinagar.

Faheem told KW on finding the owl uncommonly beautiful he latter googled about the bird and found that it was the barn owl rarely found in this part of world, mostly belonging to the north american region.

When contacted Dr.Mushtaq of Wild Life Department, he said the owl is rarely found in this part of world, though its habitat is widely spread, it may have traveled from some other part of globe as it can fly up to 200-600 miles.

Web reports reveal known by many other names, which may refer to the appearance, call, habitat or the eerie, silent flight: White Owl, Silver Owl, Demon Owl, Ghost Owl, Death Owl, Night Owl, Rat Owl, Church Owl, Cave Owl, Stone Owl, Monkey-faced Owl, Hissing Owl, Hobgoblin or Hobby Owl, Dobby Owl,White Breasted Owl, Golden Owl, Scritch Owl, Screech Owl, Straw Owl, Barnyard Owl and Delicate Owl, The Barn Owl is a pale, long-winged, long-legged owl with a short squarish tail, contrary to popular belief, it does not hoot (such calls are made by typical owls, like the Tawny Owl or other Strix). It instead produces the characteristic shree scream, ear-shattering at close range. Males in courtship give a shrill twitter. It can hiss like a snake to scare away intruders, and when captured or cornered, it throws itself on its back and flails with sharp-taloned feet, making for an effective defense. Also given in such situations is a rasp and a clicking snap, produced by the bill or possibly the tongue.

It is most recognizable by its heart shaped "mask-like" face 2010 Hollywood movie , 'Legend of The Guardians" featured same barn owls producing one of the biggest animations works of the year.
