Analysts call for resolving Palestine issue

Say OIC should be more influential to resolve the issues of Ummah

Extraordinary meeting of OIC has vowed to continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support for the just resolution of Palestine dispute

Islamabad: Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s program, former ambassador Syeda Abida Hussain said: “The OIC summit held in Jakarta is a high profile forum of Muslim countries which discusses various issues facing the Muslim Ummah. The organization, after a long time, discussed the issue of Palestine in detail. Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain participated and addressed the two-day extraordinary meeting of the heads of OIC states in Jakarta which is a positive gesture. The issue of Palestine came under discussion in the meeting and OIC vowed to continue support for just resolution of Palestinian dispute. The joint communiqué of the meeting will definitely have an impact on the international community to play its role to resolve this lingering issue. Pakistan has vital importance in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and could play its prominent role to resolve Palestine and Kashmir disputes.”

Former ambassador Shahid Amin said: “OIC has not played an effective role to resolve the issues of Muslim world. OIC should be more influential to resolve the issues of Ummah. It also needs to play a leadership role to facilitate all the Muslim countries in the world. Main purpose of the OIC meeting in Jakarta was to highlight Palestine issue once again before the world. The conditions prevailing in Palestine have resulted in promoting terrorism in the world. The super powers of the world should force Israel to stop its cruelty on Palestinians and killing innocent people. Palestine should be declared an independent state as it is the only solution to Israel-Palestine conflict.”

IR expert Dr. Farooq Hasnat said: “All the member countries of Organization of Islamic Cooperation have their own national interests. On the other hand, member countries of the European Union follow the organization’s decision as a unit. We have been observing human rights violations in Palestine and Kashmir for a very long time. OIC contains some powerful members that can use their influence to resolve both the core issues. OIC should have to convey a strong message to the world in order to pressurize India and Israel. Palestinian people should be given the right to exercise their religion and their prisoners should also be released. OIC vowed to continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support for the just resolution of Palestine dispute which is a positive development and it should be properly and strongly followed-up.”

Senior analyst Dr. Rasul Bux Rais said: “Palestine issue is not resolved so far, which is a point of concern for the Muslim Ummah. We have observed destruction in culture, education and religious sectors in Palestine. Zionists represent an extremist minority of the Jewish population and their goal was to create a Jewish homeland, and they considered locations in Africa and the Americas, before settling on Palestine. More and more Zionists immigrated to Palestine – many with the express wish of taking over the land for a Jewish state – the indigenous population became increasingly alarmed. Eventually, fighting broke out, with escalating waves of violence. Till now, Palestinians have been spending their lives in the state of war and fear.”
