Ali Shahnawaz attends prayer breakfast in Washington

Washington: Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan Kashmiri Scandinavian Council Executive and advisor to the Chairman of the Norwegian Christian Democratic Party on an invitation from the American Congress has attended the national prayer breakfast with U.S. President Barack Obama here.
Accompanied by the former Prime Minister of Norway Mr. Kjell Magne Bondevik and the Head of Oslo Peace Center Mr Khan has been attending the prayer breakfast during last several years attended by U.S. President, prominent personalities and emerging global and social leaders. Sardar Ali Shahnawaz told, \”We seize this opportunity to brief the government representatives and leading congressmen members about the human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.\”
AS Khan originally hailing from Rawlakote Azad Kashmir is a businessman by profession and based in Norway since 1986. He became the advisor to the Chairman of Norwegian Christian Democratic Party and later established Kashmiri-Scandinavian-Council (KSC) a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Kashmiri cause, both within Scandinavia and internationally. In Scandinavia, the KSC is working with academicians, intelligentsia, policy-makers, NGOs, media, students and the conscientious Scandinavians to raise their level of awareness about Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right of self-determination as enshrined in successive United Nations resolutions. It is also dedicated to promote and encourage the association of Kashmiris in Norway and rest of the Scandinavia.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari accompanied by Sanam Bhutto, and Ambassador Sherry Rehman also attended the National Prayer Breakfast and represented Pakistan.
The breakfast was joined by President Barak Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry, while other participants included members of US Senate and House of Representatives, leaders of humanitarian faith organisations, and selected international guests. Bakhtawar Bhutto chatted with Secretary of State John Kerry, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and several leaders of inter-faith organisations at the breakfast. Former PM Benazir Bhutto was a regular attendee at the Presidential Breakfast from 2001 to 2007 while Asif Zardari attended the NPB meetings in 2006 and 2007.
According to reports AJK PM was also supposed to represent the Kashmir but he could not attend the event because of Federal Govt did not allow him to travel due to some unknown reasons.
