MC declares Dec 10 as Solidarity with Army Day

RAWALPINDI: December 10 each year would be observed as Solidarity with Armed Forces of Pakistan Day (SAFPD) in AJK, in Pakistan and abroad by J&K citizens as part of “focused security” in the region. This was declared by the President of the Muslim Conference/ex-AJK Premier Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan in a large devotional public meeting held at Faizababad here Sunday to observe the death anniversary of noted Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas Khan, the 1932-founder-General Secretary of the Muslim Conference, later its supreme head. Veteran Kashmiri politician Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan also addressed besides others.

Giving rationale of December 10 SAFPD Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said in his public proclamation that “after having intensive and extensive assessment of the ever sensitive strategic geophysical map of South Asia with critical dispute of Jammu and Kashmir and its offshoot water disputes all ongoing, my belief further deepens that the security dimensions on our part must remain ever focused and central to all other socio-political engagements. I, therefore, as President of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, the oldest political platform of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, do hereby sanction and declare December 10 as the Day of Solidarity With the Armed Forces of Pakistan each year, and commit that Muslim Conference would observe this Day in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in Pakistan and abroad by the party units in befitting honor, commitment and renewal of our efforts for the defence, solidarity and integrity of Pakistan and party’s basic ideology of Accession of J&K State to Pakistan.”

He also instructed all tiers of party office holders and workers, appealing all ideological affiliates to observe the Pakistan Armed Forces Solidarity Day in dignified manner each year. He described this initiative as a new chapter in the bold struggle of people of Jammu and Kashmir as it transmits strategic signals across the Line of Control. He paid tributes to the brave Armed Forces of Pakistan, and homage to those martyrs who laid down their precious lives in the way of struggle. The proclamation was enthusiastically hailed by the meeting comprising senior politicians, political cadres, lawyers, social and economic planners from all over Pakistan and AJK.
