AJK assembly condemns Nato attacks, upholds Pak Govt decisions

ISLAMABAD: The AJK assembly in its meeting on Wednesday in Muzaffarabad through a unanimous resolution condemned the recent attacks by the Nato and ISAF forces on two border posts inside Pakistan territory at Salala in Mohmand Agency, sympathized with the mourning families of those martyred officers and jawans of Pakistan army and upheld the post-attacks decisions taken by the political and military leaderships of Pakistan to check recurrence of such incidents in future.

As per release of the AJK PID the resolution says: "The Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu & Kashmir unanimously condemns the unprovoked attacks by ISAF and NATO forces on two Pakistan Army check-posts in Mohmand Agency, resulting in the martyrdom of 24 Pakistani soldiers. The House believes that the attacks are not only a clear violation of territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Pakistan, but also a violation of international law, besides being detrimental to global peace and security. This step violates the mandate of NATO and ISAF in Afghanistan as given by the international community.

“ The House applauds the stance taken by the political and military leadership of Pakistan and, hereby, expresses its heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families of martyred soldiers and prays for early recovery of officials injured during the attack. In this connection, this House fully supports the decision of Cabinet Committee on Defense, Government of Pakistan in the wake of the unwarranted action by ISAF and NATO forces.

“The House commends the sacrifices being rendered by the Armed Forces of Pakistan and reiterates the resolve of Kashmiri nation to stand by them and offer every sacrifice in the event of any aggression on the sovereignty, integrity and independence of the Islamic Republic.

“ The House extends its full support to the political leadership and the Armed Forces of Pakistan in safeguarding the ideological and geographical frontiers of the country".

It urges the United Nations Security Council to take a serious note of ISAF and NATO Forces action for being a naked violation of UN Charter and International Humanitarian Law.

It is also asserted that such actions could not fulfill the cause of elimination of global terrorism and their recurrence could have serious implications for peace and security of the world in general and of this region in particular
