Militant killed in an ongoing Sopore gunfight; Internet suspended, schools closed

Sopore Sep 9: A militant has been killed by Indian forces in an ongoing encounter at Reban village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of Indian Army’s 22 RR and SOG laid a seige at village Reban today wee hours following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

Soon after the joint team intensified the searches and opened some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off an encounter.
During the gunfight, a militant has been killed sofar.
When reports last came in the operation was going on in the area.
Meanwhile Internet services have been suspended and schools closed in Sopore town “as a precautionary measure”. (GNS)
