Islamabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan has called the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti a “facilitator” in the murder of “innocent Kashmiris” and said she should resign if she cannot put an end to the atrocities, reported a news agency.
Khan was addressing media along with British Parliamentarians who are in Islamabad.
The AJK president said the British parliamentarians are playing an important role in highlighting the Kashmir dispute.
He said particularly the Labour party is at the forefront and has expressed commitment to play its role in resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.
Sardar Masood Khan, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while addressing the media here in Islamabad has expressed his deep concern over the gross and barbaric human rights violations taking place in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
The President of AJK, hosted a delegation of British and European Union Parliamentarians which included Andrew Gwynne, Member of Parliament; Wajid Khan, Member of European Union Parliament; Aasim Rashid, Counselor and Advisor to the Mayor of Manchester and Raja Najabat, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Right to Self Determination Movement. He addressed a joint press conference with the British parliamentary delegation
The President addressing the media said, “The systematic persecution of the political workers in IOK will not extinguish the Kashmir movement despite India’s malicious designs. Simultaneously, India should stop changing the demographics of the Kashmiri Land.”
Andrew Gwynne, MP suggested that the Kashmir dispute is a human rights issue and should not be dealt as a political one. he said that the world needs to know what is happening in IOK. Terming the atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris as horrific violations of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms. He urged the international community to be more vocal and vowed to raise the issue at all forums.
Member EU Parliament Wajid Khan said that the plight of the Kashmiris in IOK shall be brought up before the EU Parliament. Aasim Rashid was determined that British local counselors can sensitize the public on the Kashmir issue through their respective constituencies. Raja Najabat appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani media, public and Government for their consistent support in advocating the Kashmir issue.
Sardar Masood said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are demanding freedom as right and in no way begging for it. “Come what may they will attain their right to self determination despite the Indian repression and the international community inattention”, he said.
The President appealed to the international community to discard double standards helping speed up the efforts for the rights of Kashmiris and compel India to put an end the carnage, rape, torture and crimes against humanity in IOK.
The President demanded that India must immediately stop its “witch hunt” and stop incarceration of peaceful political workers on trumped up charges.
Appealing to the British Parliament, the President insisted that they must send a fact finding delegation both to AJK and IOK. They should also raise the issue on the floor of the Parliament through debates and questions. The Parliament, he urged should put pressure on the British Government to engage India on the egregious human rights situation in Kashmir. As a permanent member of the Security Council, he said, the United Kingdom should take a lead in sensitizing the other members and mobilize them on the deteriorating peace and security situation in Jammu & Kashmir and South Asia.
The President further maintained that the House of Commons and EU Parliament must develop a bipartisan stance on the HR violations in IOK and the realization of the right to self determination in Jammu & Kashmir
