Two Kashmiri rebels martyred in Sopore encounter

 

SRINAGAR : Two Hizbul Mujahideen rebels including a district commander were martyred in an encounter with police and Indian security forces in Pazalpora area of Sopore.

Police in a statements issued to PTK said that acting on a specific information about the presence of rebels in Pazalpora area of Sopore, Sopore police along with 22 RR, 179, 177, 92 Bn. CRPF & North Range QRT of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area. During cordon and search operation militants present in the area fired upon the joint search party.

“Although the holed up militants were asked to surrender through loud speakers and other possible means, but they denied to surrender. The militants continuously fired upon the joint search party, which was retaliated. During the retaliation, two HM militants were killed”, police said.

Police added that the slain militants were identified as Gulzar Ahmad Lone @Ibrahim, district commander of HM son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Gund Brath, Sopore and Basit Ahmad Mir @Tahir son of Mohammad Ahsan Mir resident of Andergam Pattan.

Gulzar Ahmad Lone was involved in Mobile Tower attacks and killing cases in the year 2015. His role was instrumental in instigating and luring the youth to join the Hizb outfit in Sopore.

 

Thousands participate in funeral of slain Sopore militants 

Thousands of people from different areas of Sopore town amid incessant rains reached Brath Kalan to offer funeral prayers of Gulzar Ahmad Lone. Gulzar was killed in an encounter with forces in Pazalpora area of Sopore along with his associate Basit Ahmad of Andergam Pattan.

He had joined militant ranks in 2015. Amid sobs, Women at his home, waiting for his body to arrive, holding a pot full of candies in their hands showered the body of militant with candies.

Meanwhile his father Ghulam Mohammad Lone with his eyes moist, addressed the mourners and appealed the people to safeguard scarifies of “martyrs”.   – Agencies
